Laura Wegrzyn is a seasoned teacher, has been teaching for over 20 years and brings a wealth of experience
to the dance academy. She began her pre-professional ballet training and performing at Dieman and Bennett, the school for Dance Theatre for the Hemispheres in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This was an academy and
professional company where few smiles, rigid rules and strict standards complimented the live piano music, personal compassion, and elegant artistry. This is where Laura began to understand the timelessness,
strength and beauty of the art of ballet. She in turn strives to pass this beauty and timelessness on to her students.
Laura continued her
training in California, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance at the University of California, Irvine. After graduation, Laura taught, choreographed, and performed professionally with the Lake Arrowhead
Classical Ballet Company. There, she performed as a company corps de ballet dancer as well as a soloist, a 6 year tenure that left her with a valuable and pleasant memory and learning experience. Over the
years her experience with the challenges and joys of working with children, peers and colleagues, directors, parents with their concerns, needs and support, all while striving to preserve the art of ballet, and to give
a positive dance experience, contribute to her claim of being a "seasoned teacher". Laura strives for excellence and continues to take class from a variety of teachers often times brainstorming to learn new ways,
to polish old ways, and to keep a positive artistic outlook on teaching, choreography and performing.
Most recently Laura is pleased to associate with Stela Viorica of the Stella Dance Company and with Lois Ellyn
of the Nouveau Chamber Ballet. Laura was invited to teach, perform and choreograph for Newport Mesa Ballet (Stella Dance Academy and Company), and to dance as a guest artist with Nouveau Chamber ballet. To
work closely with these talented and great artists and their companies has been a treasured opportunity and reinforces the knowledge that we must adhere to the classical tradition so the art of ballet remains pure.
